Thousand of WAPDA Elecricity. Workers observed "PROTEST DAY to-day 4th August , 2010 all over the country under the aegis of "PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC CENTRAL LABOUR UNION" CBA by holding Rallies, Protest March urging the Government to extend all material help to the victim of Flood instead of wasting national exchequer on lavish Foreign Trips and demanded to WAPDA/PEPCO MANAGEMENT TO UPGRADE Pay Scale of line and other staff alike other employees since more than 100 workers sacrificed their lives every year due to electrocution on duty and condemned the lethargic policy of the Government to allow the profiteers hoarders and black marketer to push sky rocketing price hike of essential commodities prior Holy Month of Ramzan and urging the Government to get recovered Rs. 150 Billions dues of Elecy from KESC AND OTHER Government Department. These rallies were held at Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Rahim Var Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Jhelum and other cities, At Lahore, the mass procession was taken out from Bakhtiar Labour Hall, Lahore led by Mr. Khurshid Ahmed alongwith Malik Noor Muhammad, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, Haji Muhammad Akram, Sajid Kazmi, Maqsood Ahmed, Hafiz Abdul Rauf Syed Zahid Hussain Shah, Rana Muhammad Akram, Osama Tariq, Hassan Munir Bhatti, Bashir Dogar and other Representatives of the union.It marched through Nisbat, Mcleod and Abbot Road Lahore. The processions were carrying National Flags and Red Banners and Banners in support of their demands condemning the Price Hike and Target Killing in Karachi and Feudalism and crony capitalism prevailing in the country and in support of their demands for Up-Gradation of Pay Scales of technical staff of Elecy/WAPDA alike their counterparts.The protesters held big Rally outside Lahore Press Club which was addressed by Mr. Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of the union who urged the Government to extend all help to the victim of Floods and get stopped killing of Innocent Citizen at Karachi and demanded that, in case, the legitimate demands of the workers pending with WAPDA Elecy Management were not solved amicably at an early date, the workers would be compelled to take direct action after Holy Month of Ramzan. A resolution was passed the Rally eulogizing the Role of National Media and APEX Judiciary for exposing the scandals of looting of national wealth by elite and demanded to the Government that cheaper Electricity. Should be got generated with Hydel and Coal Fired Thermal Power Station in the public sector instead of purchasing Elecy from Private Thermal and Rental Power House which is costlier more than many times than that of WAPDA Electricity Generation.
