ILO - meeting hazards of container transport

ASU - has asked that issues that relate to container transport - local government workers, road inspectors, local communities, railway workers and other public services workers to be raised by the Public Services International (PSI) www.world-psi.org  and the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) www.itf.org.uk at the upcoming ILO (United Nations International Labour Organisation), meeting around the hazards of container transport, being held on the 21 & 22 February.

Issues around handling, storage, carriage on public ways, correct hazards labelling will help workers and communities. Public services workers in local govt, railways, road transport are just some of the examples, of areas where workers have to deal with container transport related hazards include  fireman (women), ambulance, police, customs officers, water industry workers and workers who have to clean up spills and accidents etc caused  by container transport .
