Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union

In order to provide cheaper electricity and get stopped load-shedding of electricity for National Industries, agricultural and commerce, and domestic consumers, the Government should develop new hydel and cool fired thermal power stations on emergent basis. It should not privatize national Thermal Power Stations and efficient Electricity Companies, Faisalabad and Islamabad. Since their privatization would be against public interest. The failed experience of privatization of Karachi electricity Company had demonstrated that it had neither tackling wooes of the consumers nor paying more than Rs.50 billion electricity dues to WAPDA despite receiving electricity 700 MW daily. These demands were presented by the delegation of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union (CBA) to Syed Naveed Qamar Federal Minister Water and Power in a bilateral meeting held on 20th October, 2011 late night at Islamabad. Union further demanded that the unified system of electricity may not be broken in the interest of efficiency. And be handed over to WAPDA. The Minister gave patient hearings to the demand put up by the Union and declared that 12 /2 % share of the company would be transferred to its workers and the efficient would be awarded monetary incentives and the workers would be representation in the Board of Directors of the electricity company. And every effort would be made provide security to the workers during the performance of their duties against miscreants. He further held a promise that the demands of the Union would be extensively discussed with it on his return from Hajj.  - Advice prepared by Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union
