Greek Power Workers Union
http://twitter.com/energyunions Our Greek colleagues of the Power Workers Union have won a small battle with
the government. The government had wanted to use the Public Power Company to
collect property tax of the people. The Company being one of the functioning
institutions. However the union has made it clear that PPC is not the tax
collectors office. It occupied the head offices and forced the government to
back off. The union argued its members would not cooperate to disconnect people
from electricity for not paying their property tax. The union also made a forceful statement against the privatisation of parts
of the energy company. Advice Jan Willem GOUDRIAAN Deputy General Secretary EPSU (European Federation of Public Service Unions)
