Pakistan - WAPDA Union - Occupational Health and Safety

WAPDA/ Electricity workers urged PEPCO / Electricity management to take immediate measures to ensure safe working conditions to the line staff since unsafe working condition had caused their three tragic accident in FESCO Faisalabad in the last week due to electrocution while performing of their official duties, Mola Bux, Fitter-ll, Bilal, & Ikram Ullah, Assistant Linemen and also demanded to the Prime Minister of Pakistan that electricity being basic need of the people, therefore, he should intervene and not allow the sale of National Public Utilities to the capitalists rather get improved with transparent management for raising its productivity in the wider public interest. By another resolution, the house expressed a great concern over price hike of essential commodities and items of daily use including vegetables and urged the government to bring-to task the profiteers and hoarders and black marketers to book and decrease the prices of petrol and diesel since those had already been decreased in the international market. It also asked the government to imposed taxes upon the federal lords and capitalists and parliamentarians and adopt National Economic Self-Reliance rather mortgaging to the IMF The meeting was addressed by veteran trade union leader Mr Khurshid Ahmad alongwith M/s. Osama Tariq, Syed Zakir Ali Shah,Rane Abdul Shakoor,Rana Muhammad Akram, Sajid Kazmi, Ch.Muhammad Younis Kambooh, Ch Maqsood Ahmad, Malik Zubair and other representative of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA).
