statement, it was agreed that APEC member economies should commit to a
strategic effort to strengthen sustainability, and to develop and deploy
clean and renewable energy technologies in the region. Concrete actions
were encouraged to meet the following objectives:
- Boosting investments in the clean and renewable energy sector through appropriate government policies, open and transparent regulatory systems and a conducive business environment;
- Capacity building and technical cooperation in renewable projects that involve appropriate technologies, and require skilled human resources;
- Fostering cooperation amongst APEC members to engage in clean and renewable energy development projects, and decreases in energy intensity.
