The
Government of Pakistan had not been resorting to the Privatization of National
Public Utility of Electricity at the movement.
It had been taking measure to reconstitute their Members of Board of Directors
of Companies in accordance with .the
principle of SECP and strengthen the Pakistan Electric Power Company to improve the working of Electricity Distribution
Companies to provide the "Better Services" to the electricity consumers
and check mal practices of corruption and maladministration and assure full
recognition of Services of diligent and hard working employees and provide them
security during the performance of their services against miscreants. The
Managing Director, PEPCO would ensure the settlement of legitimate pending
demands of the workers through holding an
early meeting with the representatives of All
Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA) and ensure Safe Working Conditions to the workers at workplace. This assurance was given by Mr. Younus Dogha Federal Secretary Water & Power Government
of Pakistan in a bilateral meeting held with
the representatives of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA), on 21st November, 2014 at Islamabad. At this occasion, Mr. Khaqan Murtaza, Managing Director PEPCO was also present while the union was led by Veteran Trade
Union Leader Mr. Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of the CBA Union alongwith
Mr. Abdul Latif Nizamani, President, Haji Muhammad Ramzan Achakzai, Joint
President, Mr. Gohar Taj, Chairman, Mr. Javed Iqbal, Regional Chairman,
IESCO, Haji Zahir Shah and Mr. Osama Tariq Secretary,
All Pakistan Workers Confederation. The representatives of the union earlier
apprised to the Mr. Younis Dhaga, Federal Secretary Water & Power
the need to improve the working of National Public Utility of Electricity through Better Control by Pakistan Electric Power Company
(PEPCO) instead of handing over to the private Members of Board
of Directors who had no investment and demanded to the Government not to
privatize the
National Public Utility of Electricity in the wider public interest and need to
settle the pending important demands of the workers amicably and prevent fatal and not
fatal accidents of the line and grids and Power Houses staff though enforcing
Preventive Safety Culture and ensuring safety of the workers during the
performance of their duties by lawless elements and grant special award to Mr.
Asad Ullah Khan, SE, LESCO who has been made victim of killing attack for prevention of
theft of energy.
