The Government should give the highest priority to provide Hydel
& Gas, Thermal and Coal fired Thermal Power Stations in the pubic sector
and ensure provisions of Gas to closed Thermal Power Stations of Generation
Companies at Guddu, Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Jamhoro, Kotri and other Stations
for overcoming load shedding to provide
cheaper Elecy. to the Citizen, Industries and Agriculture & Commerce and
provide security to the Elecy. Field Staff for prevention of pilferage of
energy against lawless consumers. The Government should hand over control of DISCO’s to the
WAPDA in the interest of maintaining
proper check & Control and appoint professional management to raise its
productivity. All the Political Parties including Government were urged to
adopt national plan of Action for tackling rising poverty and aggravating
unemployment and widening irrational gap between rich and poor and introduction
agrarian reforms through mutual dialogue
and consultation and elimination abuse
of Illiteracy and Child & bonded Labour and discrimination against women
and adoption of Progressive Labour Policy in conformity with the ratified
Conventions of U.N.O. Declaration of Human Right and I.L.O. and not to
privatize national public utilities Electricity , Railway, Oil & Gas, Port,
P.I.A. and National Bank and others but raise their productivity through
Professional Management. These views were expressed by Veteran Trade Union
Leader Mr. Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of the Union in a Conference of Elecy WAPDA Workers held to-day 10th December, 2014 at Bakhtiar
Labour Hall, Lahore under the aegis of “ALL PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC
WORKERS UNION” C.B.A which was attended by many hundred workers from the
various formations and other Trade Union representatives addressed the
Conference. It was also addressed by Rana Abdul Shakoor, Haji Muhammad Younus,
Ch.Maqsood, Rana Muhammad Akram and Osama Tariq.
At this
occasion Mr. Qaisar Zaman Chief Executive Officer, LESCO addressing as Chief
Guest and urged the workers to serve Elecy. Consumers with devotion and raise
the productivity of the national public utilities make all effort to prevent
pilferage of elecy. He assured the
workers that every efforts would be made to provide security to them against
miscreants elements and safe working conditions to workers to prevent their
accident. He advised them to work on the line with strict safety. He warned
that those elements who indulge mal practice would be fully made accountable .
He also assured that the Services of Assadullah Khan S.E. who was made victim
of murder attack would fully rewarded.
