Pakistan - WAPDA - Push for up-grade of Pay Scales of Technical, Skilled and Semi-Skilled Staff employed in Line & Grid and Power Houses


Hundreds of Elecy. & WAPDA Workers took out a large Procession 28  
June, 2016 under the aegis of "ALL PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC WORKERS UNION" C.B.A from Bakhtiar Labour Hall, Nisbat Road, Lahore demanding to the Government to check price hike of essential commodities which had risen considerably in the Holy Month of Ramzan and raise employment opportunities for young work force entering 1.8 Million in the Labour Market every year and impose Tax upon the elites instead of imposing Indirect Taxation upon the commodities of Daily Use of the common citizens and checking of plundering of the national wealth by the corrupt element at the cost of raising Poverty and irrational gap between the Rich & Poor in the Society and demanding to the Government and Elecy. & WAPDA management to up-grade two Pay Scales of Technical & Skilled and Semi-Skilled Staff employed in Line & Grid and Power Houses alike the Ministerial Staff whose pay scales had been raised by the Provincial and Federal Government and raise the Wages & Salaries of the work force both Public & Private enterprises @ 50% of their Pay Scales. It was urged to the Ministry Water & Power and WAPDA management to allow payment of one Month Bonus to the WAPDA & Elecy employees while the Salaries & Fringe Benefits of the members of the Parliament had been raised 500 times. It is further demanded to the management of Elecy. & WAPDA to sanction Bonus for Elecy. &  WAPDA employees on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitter alike previous year.

 The Procession was led by the*Veteran Trade Union Leader Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary accompanied by Osama Tariq Secretary All Pakistan Workers Confederation as well as Sajd Kazmi, Rana Shakoor, Muzafar Mateen, Ch. Maqsood Ahmed, Rana Akram, Rana Shakoor, Maqsood Ahmed and other representatives of the Union.' The workers were carrying National Flags and Red Banners in the Procession which marched through Nisbat, Mcleod and Abbot Road and held a Rally at Luxmi Square and demanded to the Government to take emergent measure to develop Hydel Power Generation Project and Water Dams by allocating adequate resources to WAPDA to overcome load shedding and high cost of in order to provide cheap Elecy. and overcome shortage of Safe Water in the country. The Participants appealed all the Political Forces, Civil Society to develop Common Plan of Action to fight against Poverty, Ignorance and unemployment and injustice and develop Social Democracy of Grass Roots in the Society.
