PSI Asia Pacific - This week convened the Asia Pacific Local Government Network meeting, the meeting was held in Surabaya Indonesia, to coincide with the UN HABITAT (pre com three meeting) .
The meeting had been scheduled as one of the key out comes of Resolution 34 from the last PSI Congress , that called for the development of sector Networks to allow PSI affiliates to work together by sharing resources, identifying key issues and working to help build stronger support for PSI Affiliates and their Union Members , and outcomes for the Community .
The meeting brought together Local Government Union -campaigners, lead local government officials, both full time and rank and file officials, PSI Regional staff , with input from PSI Regional Staff and Activists .
The meeting focused on three key areas for Local and Regional Government Unions in the Asia Pacific Region
‘Priority issues for Unions & how do we respond’
‘Planning joint activities, getting organized and building our network’
‘Building strategies and alliances in support of Quality Public Services
Outcomes of the meeting will also be included in the PSI Global Local Government Work as well as the upcoming PSI APRECON Local Government and Utilities Workshop
