Pakistan - PSI Affiliate demanded Federal Government and management of the Distribution Electricity Companies, to stop tragic accident of the lines staff.

Electricity/Wapda Workers observed "Protest Day" all over the country on 3rd August 2016 under the aegis of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union (CBA) by holding Processions and Rallies in support of their demands at Peshawar, Sawat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Quetta and other cities. 

At Lahore hundreds of workers took out procession from Bakhtiar Labour Hall Lahore and held a mass Rally in front of Lahore Press Club Square led by Veteran Trade Union Leader Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of the Union and accompanied by Haji Muhammad Younis, Rana Muhammad Akram, Muzafar Muteen, Ch. Maqsood Ahmad, Rana Abdul Shakoor of the Union and Osama Tariq, Secretary, All Pakistan Workers Confederation (Regd) and others. 

The works demanded to the Federal Government and management of the Distribution Electricity Companies to get stopped tragic accident of the lines staff at workplace and get ensured to raise the pay scales of technical and professional and skilled and semi-skilled staff alike ministerial staff. 

The workers were carrying banners in support of their demands and National Flag. Speaking at the occasion veteran Trade Union Leader Mr. Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of the union demanded to the Federal and Provincial Governments and Management of Electricity Distribution Companies to intervene to prevent tragic accidents of Line Staff, as almost 126 members of the lines staff had died and far more become disable on account of electrocution during the year , and demanded to ensure Safe Working Conditions to the Elecy. Workers. In order to save their lives and health and extend all support for the welfare of their orphan children including provision of free education and their employment and the housing facilities for those families and demanded to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to allocate adequate resources for building new hydel power stations and water dams to overcome load shedding and cheaper hydel electricity and provide basic needs of water for the citizens and national agriculture. 

By a resolution passed in the Rally, demanded to the electricity/wapda management to raise the pay scales of Technical and Skilled, Semi-skilled and professional workers alike ministerial staff since they perform far more hazardous nature of the work at the risks of their lives throughout the service. 

It was appealed all the political parties and patriotic forces to evolve National Plan of Action to overcome rising unemployment of the youth and aggravating poverty and irrigational gap between the rich and poor and abolishing Child & Bonded Labour and discrimination against women in the Society and Promote Equality and Fraternity & Democracy and Social Justice .
