Pakistan - Hundreds of Electricity/WAPDA Workers took out a large procession under the auspices of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union CBA on the 5th January

" From Bakhtiar Labour Hall Lahore to protest against the decisions to hold 16 Referendums separately in the various Electricity entities and WAPDA instead of one.
As like previous five referendums held nationwide to elect their single collective bargaining agent the most representative Trade Union of Electricity/Wapda Workers under the Industrial Relation Act carrying National Flags and Red Banners and Salons in support of their demands.
The workers marched from Nisbat Road and McLeod Road and held a Rally at Laxmi Chowk which was lead by veteran Trade Union Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of the Union accompanied by Haji Muhammad Younas Senior Vice President , Rana Shakoor, Muzaffar Mateen, Ch. Maqsood Ahmed, Haji Muhammad Latif, Ch. Javed, Dr. Ramzan, Rana Akhter, Rana Muhammad Akram, Malik Zubair, Osama Tariq Secretary All Pakistan Workers Confederation.
The rally held by the Union in a resolution urged to federal government to get hold single referendum in Electricity/Wapda allowing Employees to elect their representative Trade Union nationwide .
By another resolution, it was demanded the federal and provincial government to raise the pay scales of government, semi government and Electricity/Wapda as well as the Industrial and Commercial Workers employed in the private sector, like the Members of National Assembly, in the next budget enabling them to meet basic need in the high inflationary days.
By another resolution the rally demanded policy makers and political parties, ensure politicians pay any adequate taxes and allocate adequate national resources to develop New Hydel Power Stations and New Water Dams to provide basic need of the cheap electricity and Water to the nation.
It urged to the Wapda Authority to adopt the pay increases for employees under Pakistan Electricity Supply Companies at the earliest. "
