PSI ADB meeting - Sydney 14th July

PSI has in the last two weeks (14th July) meet with the Sydney ADB Oceania Regional Office Staff, for a relationship building discussion. The meeting was held at the ADB Sydney Offices PSI was represented by A.P. Network Coordinator Greg Mclean. A range of issues were discussed including the topics listed below. The meeting also allowed an opportunity to build contact with the ADB Sydney.Issues discussed included -
• Understanding ADB / engagement / opportunities
• Core Standards review by the Regional Sustainability Dept.
• Role of the Strategies and Policy Dept.
• Complaints review via board working group.
• ADB Governors meeting in Hanoi 1st week of May 2010
• Complaints Mechanism - public consultations and disclosures
• Compliance Review
The A.D.D. Pacific Dept is one of 5 Region Offices of the ADB.
Within the Pacific Region there are Office locations in -
• Tonga
• PNG
• Suva - this office covers Tonga, Soma,Cook Islands,Tuvalu, Kiribatis
• Sydney Office Covers - Nauru / Solomon islands / Vanuatu ,
• The Sydney office is also a -
o Focal point for the private sector for all the pacific region
o Also acts as Embassy for Australia as well as relations contact point for N.Z.
