Asbestos - action outcome of the recent PSI Utilities and Local Government meeting

As an action outcome of the recent PSI Utilities and Local Government meeting / workshop http://gmpsiaprec.blogspot.com.au/2016/10/psi-asia-pacific-local-government-and.html  where asbestos was highlighted as a key Occupataioanl Health and Safety issue by affiliates. In November PSI Asia Pacific joined the two-day South East Asia Ban Asbestos Meeting kicked off today in Jakarta. The conference is co-organized by BWI Asia Pacific, APHEDA and ABAN (Asia Ban Asbestos Network) with LION (Local Initiative for OSH Network) and INA-BAN as the local host.Network) with LION (Local Initiative for OSH Network) and INA-BAN as the local host. 
The meeting aims where:
i. Take stock of the progress made in the South East Asia countries and map out successes at the national and regional level.
ii. Identify major challenges and issues to advance the banning of asbestos in the country and the region.
iii. Build strategies to coordinate and communicate national and regional level campaigns.
iv. Coordinate opportunities in the lead up to the Rotterdam convention meeting (COP7)
