 Media advice from WAPDA " Electricity Workers observed PROTEST DAY ON 16"! February, 2012 all over the country under the aegis of "PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC CENTRAL LABOUR UNION" CBA along with Power Engineers Association against the Sky Rocketing Power Tariff of Rental & Private Thermal Power Stations and serious load shedding of Elecy. affecting national industries and Agriculture and Trade nd basic need of the poor masses on account of non-development of cheaper source of Elecy. alike Coal Fired and Hydel Power Station by the Successive Governments and imposing the outdated policies of I.M.F. and the World Bank to privatize national nine Thermal Power Stations and recruitment new hands on lavish salaries and perks in the Public Utility overburdening the heavy Financial liabilities upon the National Public Utility and demanding the payment of worth Trillions of Rupees of Elecy dues from Karachi Electric Supply Company and Government Agencies instead of imposing heavy financial liabilities of taking huge loans from the Commercial Banks as well as getting installed Machinery of Nandipur Power House and U.A.E. gifted Thermal Power House Machinery lying at Karachi Port and Faisalabad Thermal Complex respectively for months in order to raise cheaper generation of Elecy. The workers all over the country including Quettra, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Rahim Yar Khan, D.G. Khan Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mardan, Peshawar and in other cities held protest march and processions and rallies in support of these demands. At Lahore, thousands of WAPDA /Elecy. Workers took out procession from different parts of city and held a large Protest Rally led by Mr. Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of the Union alongwith Muhammad Ramzan Butt General Secretary Power Wing Engineers Association and other office bearers of the union. Addressing the Rally they declared that they had held large rallies all over the country and thrice before the National Parliament, Islamabad, despite the assurance given by the President of Pakistan, the Government had been resorting to privatize nine GENCO Thermal Power Stations producing cheaper source of Elecy. and outsourcing the managerial post with high perks. They demanded that the control of the Distribution Companies, Power Wing may be restored to WAPDA in the interest of raising efficiency and public interest since no private management could provide Elecy to the Lakhs of Villages even Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) could not do so in one City of Karachi. They appealed to all patriotic forces to extend their support for the just struggle of the Workers and Engineers of Power Wing to over come the menace of sky rocketing Price Hike of Power Tariff and serious load shedding by building cheaper sources of Energy in the public sector instead of wasting national resources upon the huge cost of import of Oil and revive Industrial Relation Law at Federal Level after its expiry on 17th March, 2012 and get reinstated the sacked workers of KESC & PTCL. They also demanded to develop political and consensus in Baluchistan and get recovered abducted Elecy.
