Today I meet with a
delegation of Chinese union officials visiting Sydney from
the Heilongjiang provincial Federation of Trade Unions. Issues discussed
included collective bargaining, occupational health and safety, union
structures, and the roll of Unions in Australia, as well as union history...an
invitation to visit Heilongjiang was also extended to me. In a world of rapid
change and the influences of China in the regional, meeting with Union Delegations is important use now, but is of major significance to our future
union colleagues, and our children and their descendants. The global community
and global ideas of public sector reform and issues unions confront are
significant but there significance will grow as the bridges of trade and
ideas grow . Exchanges of ideas and
views builds these understandings at an industry and union level.
