140 thousands workers and Engineers of WAPDA/Elecy. Observed
"PROTEST DAY" all
over the country on 8th May, 2012 under the aegis of PAKISTAN WAPDA
HYDRO ELECTRIC CENTRAL
LABOUR UNION" C.B.A along with Power Engineering Association against
massive load shedding of Elecy. & rising Power Tariff day-to-day and handing
over the management of National
Power Houses to the Private hands and the management of 14 Distribution and Generation and Transmission Elecy. At this day, the workers and Engineers held mass Protest rallies in all cities including Peshawar, Mardan,
Islamabad, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan and Sukkur, Hyderabad, Quetta and other cities. At
Lahore, the processions of the workers arrived from the various parts
including Bakhtiar labour Hall, Lahore.
The thousands of workers and Engineers
took out mass procession from Lahore Press Club carrying banners against Elecy. load Shedding and High Power Tariff and
non-payment of Elecy. Dues by Karachi Electric Supply Company and other Government Agencies
amounting Rs. 368 billions resulting closure of many Thermal Power Houses . They pointed out the experiences of the Privatization
of Elecy. In cities alike Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan had failed miserably, the
proposed privatization of Power Wing, would
deny the access of Elecy. To the Rural Areas which is their basic right of
life.
