Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour Union
National Conference of WAPDA/Electricity Workers was
held on 14th May, 2012 at IESCO Headquarters,
Islamabad under the aegis of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour
Union (CBA) under the presidnetship of Mr. Abdul Latif Nizamani
President of the Union which was participated by thousands of WAPDA/Electricity Workers
and the representatives of the union from all the five provinces and federal
capital. At this occasion, M/s. Khurshid Ahamd, General Secretary of the union
alongwith Gohar Taj, Chairman, Haji
Muhammad Ramzan Achkzai, President (Balochistan Province), Mian Rehman Ghani Regional
Chairman, Javed Ahmad Baloch Regional Secretary, Islamabad and others addressing the
conference urged the government to get supplied adequate fuel and gas to the closed Thermal Power
Stations to ease the menace of serious load shedding and get built new Hydel and Coal fired
Thermal and Wind Power Stations on an emergent basis to get provided cheaper sources of
energy to the nation. They also urged the government to get raised the pay & allowances of the employees
increase @ 100% on the eve of Federal budget. They vehemently demanded to the
Federal Minister for Water & Power to get accepted the genuine demands
of 140000 WAPDA/Electricity workers including up-gradation of the pay scales of remaining employees and grant of honoraria to the
them for performing hazardous nature of their duties alike other companies. They
also strongly demanded that the government should not resort privatization of National
Electricity Public Utility as well as nine Thermal Power Stations in the public
interest since it would raised accelerate power tariff. They also urged the
government to not out sources the post of Chief Executive Officers
of DISCOs including QESCO since Departmental Engineers could do justice to this assignment.
