WAPDA/Elecy. Workers commemorated Thanksgiving Day to-day
16th May, 2012 under the aegis of "PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO
ELECTRIC CENTRAL LABOUR UNION" C.B.A. all over the country for acceptance
of the demands of the WAPDA workers and the decision of the Government not to
privatize national Public Utility Elecy. At Lahore, a large meeting of thousand
of workers was held at Bakhtiar Labour Hall, Lahore under the presidentship of
Mr. Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of the Union. The union in a
resolution demanded to the Government to get implemented the thar Coal
Project of Dr. Samerkand Mubarak for generation of cheaper Elecy.
from Gas of the Coal as well as get built up of new Hydel Power Stations and get
renovated nine national Thermal Power Stations for raising their generation as
has been done successfully in Muzaffargarh and Guddu Thermal Power
Station and get recovered Rs. 368 Billions Elecy. dues from Karachi
Electric Supply Company (KESC) and other Government Agencies and ensure smooth
supply of Gas and Oil to Thermal Power Stations to overcome serious
load shedding in the country. The workers also pledged to raise quality of
Public Services of the national utility to the elecy. consumers and prevent
pilferage of energy and recover its revenue. The meeting was also
addressed by Malik Noor Muhammad , Osama Tariq, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, Sajid
Kazmi, Haji Muhammad Younus, Naveed Dogar, Ch. Maqsood Ahmed, Falk Sher,
Sh. Muhammad Shaib, Zahid Shah, Ch. Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Ayyub and
other representatives of the union.
The workers also demanded to the President to check Sky
Rocketing Price Hike of essential commodities and introduce economic
and social reforms and raise the wages of the workers commensurate
with price hike in the forthcoming Federal Budget and develop national industries
for job creation for the work force and youth of country and impose taxation
upon Luxury Goods and posh villas and feudal lord and get appointed
experienced and honest professional Engineer as Chief Executive of
DISCOs instead of recruiting new inexperienced hands from the
market.
