LABOUR NEWS IN PAKISTAN

R.JUSTICE (R) RAJA FAYYAZ AHMAD, CHAIRMAN NIRC HAS ASKED COMPREHENSIVE REPORT ON THE PETITION FILED BY MR. KHURSHID AHMAD GENERAL SECRETARY PAKISTAN WORKERS CONFEDERATION ON IMPORTANT LABOUR ISSUES INCLUDING AMENDMENT IN LABOUR LAWS IN CONFORMITY WITH ILO CORE CONVENTIONS RATIFIED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN AND RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGES IN THE SINDH BALOCHISTAN AND KPK PROVINCES.
Mr. Justice (R) Raja Fayyaz Ahmed,  Chairman, National Industrial Relations Commission has asked comprehensive report on the Petition filed by Pakistan Workers Confederation on important Labour Issues including amend the Labour Laws in conformity with ILO Core Convention ratified by the Government of Pakistan and enforcement of Labour, Safety & Health Laws through Independent Labour Inspection Machinery in conformity with  ratified ILO Convention No. 81 and prevention of accident & occupational diseases of workers by promoting “PREVENTIVE SAFER  CULTURE”. Since recent Inferno at Garment Factory Karachi and Leather Factory Lahore, killing many hundred innocent workers including had exposed the absence of in violating of Safety & Health Laws. It also highlighted the need to raise Minimum Wages in the Provinces of Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw, Sindh and Baluchistan, since the wages had not been raised in these provinces for the last two years. The petition has been filed by Mr. khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of Pakistan Workers Confederation.

VISIT OF SECRETARY HUMAN RESOURCES GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN VISITED THE HEAD QUARTER OF PAKISTAN WORKERS CONFEDERATION AT BAKHTIAR LABOUR HALL LAHORE
Mr. Muhammad Ahsan Raja, Secretary, Ministry of Human Resources Government of Pakistan visited the Head Quarter of Pakistan Workers Confederation at Bakhtiar Labour Hall Lahore, on 22ND
September, 2012 accompanied by Mr. Javaid Iqbal Gill,  Central Labour Advisor and discussed Labour Issues confronting the workers need for their effective solution including ensuring safe working condition to the workers effective enforcement of Labour Laws &  amendment of outdated Labour Laws and need to raise Minimum Wages & enlarge the facilities of housing and education to the children of the secured workers and need to convene Tripartite Labour Conference at an early date.  Pakistan Workers Confederation represented by Ms. Rubeena Jamil, President, Altaf Baloch Chairman, Yousaf Baloch Senior Vice President and Ch. Khushi Muhammad Khokhar General Secretary Pakistan Workers Confederation Punjab Chapter alongwith M/S Osama Tariq, PWF, Akbar Ali Khan (Banks), Rana Hassan Muhammad (PTCL) Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah (Chemicals Industries), Nisar Ahmed (NTF), Muhammad Akbar (Muthida Labour Federation) and accompanied by Veteran Trade Union Leader Mr. Khursid Ahmed General Secretary Pakistan Workers Confederation.

LUXUX WORKERS SWABI KHYBER PAKHTOONKHAW WERE REINSTATED THROUGH EFFORTS OF GOHAR TAJ, REGIONAL SECRETARY PAKISTAN WORKERS FEDERATION. - After prolonged negotiations with the help of Provincial Labour Welfare,  Directorate and City Administration, the multinational Company LUXEN earlier closed the factory as a result of Industrial dispute raised by the union.

OBSERVED PROTEST DAY AGAINST PROPOSED PRIVATIZATION OF DISTRIBUTION AND GENERATION COMPANIES OF ELECTRICITY UNDER THE AEGIS OF PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC CENTRAL LABOUR UNION (CBA)
130, 000 WAPDA/Electricity workers observed protest day on 11th October, 2012 against the proposed privatization of Electricity Distribution and Generation Companies all over the country by holding mass rallies and taking out Protest Procession under the aegis of  “PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC CENTRAL LABOUR UNION (CBA)

MR. OSAMA TARIQ REPRESENTED THE PAKISTAN WORKERS FEDERATION IN PUNJAB WORKERS WELFARE BOARD
Workers Welfare Fund Governing Body Punjab is being represented by Mr. Osama Tariq, Deputy
General  Secretary, Pakistan Workers Federation as Member of the Punjab Workers Welfare Board representing the workers of the Province.
