The ITUC and Rengo have organized a half-day symposium, taking place 10 October on the theme "An equitable and sustainable exit from economic crisis: How can the IMF and World Bank contribute to job-rich global recovery". Featured speakers include the president of RENGO, a Japanese government minister, an IMF deputy managing director, the director of the World Bank's WDR 2013 on "Jobs", and ITUC general secretary Sharan Burrow. Sharan Burrow will also take part in a debate on jobs with another IMF director and three finance ministers three finance ministers on "Jobs and growth" taking part on the 11th, several other meetings with IFI officials and government ministers, media interviews and meetings with Japanese unions.

The Washington office director will speak at briefings and information events, including on the ITUC's demand for a comprehensive labour standards safeguard at the World Bank and for changes to IMF loan conditionality, at a Japanese CSO forum on financial transactions taxes on 11 October and at a discussion on the Bank's "Doing Business" report on the 12th. We will provide information about some IFI meetings-related events over the following week.
