International Labour Organization (ILO) and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), work together on employment issues

http://www.qpsactionnow.org/news/ilo-and-uclg-work-together-employment-issues The problem of jobs and decent work in the face of rapid urbanization is at the centre of a recently signed memorandum of understanding between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), which represents and defends the interest of local governments on the world stage. Local economic and social development is a priority for towns and cities, and UCLG hopes to draw on the expertise of the ILO to assist in addressing the challenges of creating decent work.  For the ILO, the partnership with UCLG provides an opportunity to expand its “real world” knowledge about employment in urban centres. The first practical cooperation between the two organizations will take place in Mozambique, where the UCLG supports the city of Maputo in addressing issues related to informal street vendors and markets.
