PAKISTAN WORKERS CONFEDERATION, PUNJAB CHAPTER MEETING -Pakistan
Workers Confederation, Punjab Chapter in its meeting held on 26th
February, 2013 expressed great concern over killing of six construction workers and demanded the Government to take all measures to help the families of the
victims of terrorism, restore law and order in all parts of the country,
enforcement of independent labour inspection machinery for implementation of
labour laws and provision of medical and social security facilities to the
retired and families of the deceased workers under Social Security Scheme.

WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC CENTRAL LABOUR UNION OBSERVED DEMAND DAY ON 5th MARCH, 201 Thousands
of WAPDA / Electricity workers observed Demands Day by taking out processions
and holding rallies in all the four Provinces of the country on 5th
March, 2013 under the aegis of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labour
Union urging the Government to take special measures to raise generation of
electricity for overcoming shortage by developing Hydel and Core Fired Thermal
Power Stations and getting recovered lawful dues of the electricity from the
Government and Semi-Government Departments / Agencies amounting to 2-1/2 trillions of Rupees and get implemented the
demands of the workers through a settlement with the Ministry of Water and Power and take special measures to promote
safety and health of the workers at work place and hold a early referendum
instead of imposing 4 times defeated trade union as their so-called
representative.
PAK–ARB FERTILIZERS FACTORY WORKERS UNION, MULTAN WON REFERENDUM 3rd TIME
CONSECUTIVELY Pak
– Arab Fertilizers Factory Workers Union, Multan lead by Mitran, President and Mumtaz Ali Shah General
Secretary has won referendum third time consecutively with huge majority. Mr.
Khurshid Ahmad, General Secretary, Pakistan Workers Confederation along with
other representatives have congratulated them declaring that it symbolized
their dedicated work for the welfare of the workers.
CHIEF MINISTER, PUNJAB ANNOUNCES CONVERSION OF 100,000 CONTRACT WORKERS EMPLOYED IN
THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ON REGULAR BASIS. - Mian
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister, Punjab has announced conversion of
more than 100,000 contract workers employed in the Provincial Government
Departments / Agencies on regular basis accepting the longstanding
demands of the workers organizations representing the Government and Semi
Government Departments. Pakistan Workers Confederation has conveyed thanks to
the Chief Minister.
IMPLEMENTATION
OF MINIMUM WAGES LAW - Pakistan
Workers Confederation in a communication addressed to the Federal Government
and Provincial Governments has urged to get implemented the minimum wages law
in the industrial and commercial establishments as well as raise minimum wages
of the workers in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa at the same rate as
promulgated by the Governments of Punjab and Balochistan. It was further
demanded that the minimum wages of the unskilled workers are required to be
increased commensurate with price hike at least Rs.15,000/- per month.

DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF VETERAN TRADE UNION LEADER CH. GULZAR AHMAD. -All
Pakistan Trade Unions Federation held a special conference to commemorate 2nd
Death Anniversary of veteran trade union Ch. Gulzar Ahmad on 14.2.2013 at Lahore
which was attended by hundreds of trade union representatives and workers from
all parts of the country and was addressed by Ms. Robina Gulzar, Nasim Ahmad,
Fazal-e-Wahid, Nasir Gulzar, Safdar Sindhu, Yousaf Baloch and veteran trade
union leader Mr. Khurshid Ahmad and other trade union representatives. They paid
tribute to his great services and pledged to carry on his mission.
PWF CENTRAL PUNJAB REGION COMMEMORATED INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY ON 8TH
MARCH, 2013 - International Women Day was commemorated on 8th
March, 2013 all over the country by holding seminars. In this connection, a
special meeting was held at Bukhtiar Labour Hall, Lahore which was addressed by Mrs.Shabnum Manzoor
,Amra Khuram, Huma
aziz,Mussrat and others. They called upon the policy makers and the patriotic
forces to promote gender equality in the society and take special measures for
elimination of poverty and unemployment and social and economic deprivation of
females and violence and promotion of principle of equal pay for equal work and
social protection at work place including Domestic and Home Based and Rural
Women.
