The Maharashtra
Panchayat Elected Women Representatives’ Association is one of the first projects
to receive support from CLGF’s regional South Asia programme. It will support
newly elected women in their elected roles. CLGF funding will help the project
to create strong institutional structures, track the progress of its members,
increase the association’s outreach and impact, pilot intervention strategies
and create knowledge management platforms for advocacy and dissemination. The
anticipated outcomes include empowering women both as citizens and local
government representatives and increasing the association’s capacity to empower
