Through the esteemed columns of the
National Press & Electronic Media, 150,000 working class of WAPDA/Elecy. Corporatized Companies share the concern and sufferings of
the general Public. It is due to flamed policies of the previous successive governments which instead
of developing cheaper source of Hydel & Coal Fired Elecy. had developed
high cost of Private thermal Power Stations and Rental Power Station on the
behest of the World Bank whereas the cost of Hydel Elecy. is Rs. 1.70 per unit
comparing to IPP’s Rental Power House
Rs. 20 to Rs. 40 per unit. The announcement of the Prime Minister to privatise
all the Distribution and Generation Companies of the Public Sector is an other
move on the behest of the World Bank to get repeated the previous failed experience of the Privatization of Multan and
Rawalpindi and Karachi Electric Supply Companies which despite functioning in
the urban cities could neither reduce nor able to overcome load shedding and
high cost of Elecy. Therefore, we
strongly demand to the Prime Minister to get reviewed his decision in the
public interest since it is the responsibility of State to provide basic need
of Elecy. to the citizens in accordance with article 3 & 9 of the
Constitution. The Government, instead of Privatization, should adopt
conservation of energy Policy providing elecy. to the domestic consumers by
closing Commercial Centers at 7.00 P.M. alike other countries and provide
security to the field staff against those who commit violence during the
detection of pilferage of energy and recovery of defaulting elecy. dues and
establish “UTILITY COURTS” to prosecute the accused of the pilferage of energy
and hand over the control of DISCO’S & GENCO’S to WAPDA instead of keeping in the control
of private Members of B.O.D’s. who have no investment and have been posted as
if they are owners of the Companies which had not only raised the financial
burden, but also given rise to the
mis-management.
At
this occasion, we appeal to the Prime Minister to get hold an independent
inquiry against the accusation of the former Chief Executive and General
Manager LESCO over use of surplus elecy. to the Textile Feeders which had become
on becoming surplus for one hour or so after earlier completion of target work
on shifting of 132 K.V. Line at Metro Bus Project on 27th May, 2014 at Ferozepur
Road, Lahore. In fact the surplus Elecy. was not only provided on the said date
by meeting the time limit of load shedding of domestic consumers for six hours
daily , but also in addition to the Domestic Consumers and even Okara
Cantonment of the following Feeders: Chahmiran,
Badami Bagh, Okara, Bhati Gate and Chung
Over and above, the elecy.
provided to Independent Industrial Feeder was in conformity with NEPRA guide lines to supply fo elecy. to the
Industrial Consumers of load shedding on 4 Hours a day the elecy. It was
provided to all the consumers without discrimination, its earnings were higher
for the exchequer than other consumers. The Prime Minister is urged to get
reviewed the case since the victimization of innocent officials had created a
great frustration and demoralizing
effect upon the Engineers and the workers in performance their duties despite
working day and night.
