ITUC Climate Change - update

Australia, Belgium, Canada, the ABC of the union movement present in the union lobby week!

Australian congress of TU (ACTU) have made clear its commitment to climate ambition, through the update of their climate policy in their Congress, and their support to a zero emission economy for Australia, with the reactivation of an emission trading mechanism, and with equity principles and just transition on its heart.Belgian unions have not meet one, nor two Ministers but FOUR during the lobby week… Exhausting! Thanks to ACV/CSC and FGTB/ABVV for their commitment!

In Canada, national center CLC made clear its commitment to climate action with a Letter to PM Harper with specific requests including the need for a binding domestic carbon pollution reduction cut for Canada of least one third within the next 10 years (equivalent to 37% below 2005 levels by 2025). Their letter is here:http://documents.clc-ctc.ca/hse/INDC-ltr-to-Stephen-Harper.pdf

During the lobby week, CUPE Canada (the public workers’ union federation) has expressed its support for action addressing the letter to the minister and sharing the need for action with their 100s of CUPE Locals across Canada http://cupe.ca/global-week-action-climate-justice

ACTU, CSC and FGTB and CUPE have already sent their pics (you can see them in our Storify feed here<https://storify.com/ituccsi/global-week-of-action-for-climate-justice?utm_source=embed_header>; or in the dedicated Lobby week section in the ITUC website<http://www.ituc-csi.org/global-week-of-action-for-climate>;)

Who will be next??? Our GS has already challenged you!

If you have not joined, remember, you can simply join the week by expressing your support to climate action with a ‘no jobs on a dead planet’ photo as well !

And don’t forget to answer the Survey! http://www.ituc-csi.org/climatesurvey
