Resilient Cities
June Update
30 June 2015
Congress summary
"Cities and
climate change, cities and resilience…It’s about saving lives!" Jürgen Nimptsch, Mayor of
Bonn.Resilient Cities 2015 concluded on Wednesday, 10 June with solution-oriented discussions, insightful learnings and an inspiring feeling of community and purpose for continuous future work in urban resilience and adaptation. For congress highlights, check out this short video: After three intense days of congress sessions, smiling faces and motivated discussions showed that while the Resilient Cities 2015 congress had come to an end, the need and will to focus on the Urban Resilience Agenda had not. In the words of Ms. Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven, from the Federal Ministry of the Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Germany: “What’s clear is that acting on climate change is in your own interest” prompting cities to continue putting pressure on states and demanding their rightful role in the climate change adaptation negotiations coming up in the next months. In turn, we would like to prompt you all to keep the discussion alive and write to us about new relationships developed at the congress, new project ideas, as well as your questions and feedback on the event and on the topics brought up during those three days. We also invite you to discuss issues left open at the congress during our annual webinar series this fall; the next edition of Resilient Cities Asia Pacific in Melaka, Malaysia; and the Resilient Cities 2016. Thank you all for your interest and support. Your Resilient Cities Team |
