A meeting of ALL PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC WORKERS UNION C.B.A - Prime Minister of Pakistan to represent their point of view over the proposed Privatization of Distribution and Generation Companies.


" A meeting of ALL PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC WORKERS UNION C.B.A. would be arranged with the Prime Minister of Pakistan to represent their point of view over the proposed Privatization of Distribution and Generation Companies. The Government would ensure to provide adequate Security to the Electricity field Staff during the performance of their duties for prevention of pilferage of Electricity and recovery of Elecy. Dues against lawlessness elements. 

The Government would continue to make every effort to provide "BETTER SERVICES" to the Electricity Consumers and prevent of Fatal and non-Fatal accident of the line staff on account of electrocution and ensuring "SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS" to them. The employees of WAPDA and Thermal Power Generation Companies and Distribution Elecy. Companies of Sind, Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa and Baluchistan would be paid one Month Salary Ex-Gratia alike their counterparts working in Punjab, NTDC. These decisions were made by Khawaja Muhammad Asif Federal Minister Water & Power during a meeting held with the representatives of the ALL PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC WORKERS UNION CBA to-day at Islamabad. At this occasion Muhammad Younus Dagha Federal Secretary Water & Power was also present while the union was represented by Veteran Trade Union Leader Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary alongwith Abdul Latif Nazamani President, Gohar Taj Chairman, Iqbal Dar, Wali-ur-Rehman, Rana Shakoor, Sajid Kazmi, Ch. Sarfraz, Javed Baloch and other trade union representatives.

Earlier, the Union representatives demanded that the Government should review its Policy of the proposed privatization of profitable Electricity Companies in the wider public interest since Elecy. is a basic need of the citizens, therefore, it is the State responsibility to run it in the public sector with efficiency and develop cheaper source of Elecy. Generation by Hydel and Thermal Power Stations in the Public Sector on war footing basis to overcome load shedding and assure the Federal Minister Water & Power that the workers would spare no effort to raise productivity of the national public utility and demanded to him to provide security to field staff and check the menace of rising fatal and non-fatal accident of line staff and sanction Equal Pay & Allowance including Ex-Gratia payment to all the employees including WAPDA /Thermal Power Stations and the employees of other Provinces and assured to the Minister its co-operation and thanked the Federal Minister for accepting the just demands of the workers and support for raising Productivity and Better Services to the Elecy. Consumers and national development."
