The USU, (part of PSI Australian affiliate the ASU) , has been representing the Local Council Workers Union Members as well as standing up for the local community over the alleged spreading of waste asbestos mixed with soil and compost type materials , on fields , public walk ways and more.
The Unions action include advice from a " Liverpool Council whistle-blowers who has spoken out about how managers told workers to turn a blind eye to asbestos contamination following an investigation by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA)." see the below ABC news article .
This once again shows Unions stand up for Workers but also for Communities and another reason why "whistle-blowers" need protection as they speak up for Communities and Health and Safety .
