PSI Affiliate
WAPDA, the Hydro Electricity Workers Union, in Pakistan, has been campaigning
for improved safety regulations and safety equipment, to stop the over 200
deaths (plus more injured) in the Pakistan Electricity distribution industry
each year (average).
WAPDA has
recently held a high level Union meeting, after two recent tragic deaths of linesman and
crane operator, the Unions recent activities have been reported in the “ Dawn “

action by WAPDA, comes after the same Unions successful campaign to stop Electricity
privatisation .
