Nations HABITAT forum being held in Surabaya .
UN HABIATE , covers around 70
countries in five continents focusing on seven areas:

· Urban Basic Services;
· Housing and Slum
Upgrading;
· Risk Reduction and
Rehabilitation;
· Urban Research and
Capacity Development.

Nations HABITAT is also increasingly being seen as
focal point for Local Government and those seeking
more involvement of local communities, through their
Elected Local Government Representatives .... this represents
important opportunities for PSI and PSI Local
Government Affiliates ...
At the same time as UN HABIATE , --- A number of PSI Asia Pacific '
Local Government Network Affiliates ' will meet to review the current threats
to Local Government Workers and PSI Affiliates in the Region, and develop
strategic responses . Issues likely to be on the agenda include PPP's,
contracting out , the key roll of Local Government in the AP Region .
