An article recently published in the Sydney Morning Herald , has highlighted the win by the Australian Tax (Commissioner) Office , in settlement with Chevron that is expected to give the Australian Government $10 billion over the next 10 years , starting with a $1 billion settlement up front .
According to the article the Government Minister (a conservative government ) has given examples of how the monies can be spent on providing additional public services " A tax boost of $10 billion over a decade could be used to build 10 hospitals, 200 big schools and Sydney's light rail network five times over."
The statement supports many of our arguments , that if companies paid correct taxation, there would be more public services and Governments , even conservative government would in turn be less reliant on privatisation and PPPs , and not for profit public services provided by the public sector .
According to the article the TAX Office has described the decision as "one of the most important decisions in corporate tax history"
Great article and some good quotes for those arguing for "Just Taxation "
