PSI Pakistan affiliate holds National Seminar on the subject of National Action Plan For Social Justice and Decent Work

 "  The policy makers and all the political parties should adopt National Economic Self Reliance Policy ensuring the workers and peasants and poor segments of the society elimination of exploitation and irrational gap between the rich and poor and the provision of basic needs. Free equal standard education to their children and gainful employment to each young and equal pay for equal work for women and social protection and demanded to adopt policy which may help to achieve National Economic Self-Reliance and free the country from the yoke of IMF & World Bank high Debits and develop national industries, agriculture & Trade in order to provide Decent Work to the young workforce entering into the labour market @ 1.8 Million every year and demanded to impose taxes upon federal lords and crony capitalists and elite of the country since 80% Tax Payers out of 1.2 Million total tax payers are wage earner.

The meeting expressed a great to the plight of the Industrial and commercial workers over the denial of their medical facilities after their retirement while no increase in the pension had been made for them so far since last two years drawing paltry sum of Rs.5200/- PM under Old Age Benefits Institution whose 40 Billion rupees had been plundered by its previous management. 
It further expressed its concern over the :failure of the Government to provide safe healthy working conditions to the workforce causing one of the highest number of fatal and non-fatal accidents of the industrial workers and occupational disease in the country in Mining, Textile, Transport, Electricity, Chemical, Engineering etc on account of failure of the government to comply with the principles of ILO Convention No. 81 & 155. It strongly demanded that high inequalities existing between the rich and poor in the society were required to be abolished and there is urgent need to introduce agrarian reforms and abolish feudalism. 

These views were expressed to day in National Seminar on the subject of National Action Plan For Social Justice and Decent Work held under the aegis of All Pakistan Workers Confederation today 11th October, 2017 at Bakhtiar Labour Hall Lahore which was addressed by Veteran Journalist and representative of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan LA Rehman, Dr. Pervez Tahir Renowned Economist and Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary, Ms. Rubina Jamil President, Rana Muhammad Saleem, Osama Tariq, Ch. Khushi Muhammad Khokhar, Akbar Ali Khan, Ch. Muhammad Anwar, Niaz Khan, Yousaf Baloch and others. 

The seminar was attended by the representatives belonging to the various Trade Unions of the Public and private sectors from the various parts of the country. The house by a resolution expressed a great concern over the rising inflation of essential commodities and urge the Government to check profiteers, hoarders and freeze prices of essential commodities and get implemented labour laws through efficient labour inspection machinery and adopt compliance and uniformity in the labour legislation in all the provinces in conformity with ILO core convention after the 18th Constitutional amendments and ensure safe working conditions to the worker and get respected the fundamental rights of the workers in the legislations and bring US Dollar 200 Billion remitted in the Foreign Banks by the elite of the country and introduce far reaching reforms to ensure Decent work and Social Justice to the workers and poor segments of the society and abolish irrational gap between the rich and poor. The house appealed to the working class and all democratic force to forge unity and strengthen their struggle to abolish an egalitarian society free from exploitation and social democracy and social justice and dignity of working men and women. At this occasion Maria Helene Andre Director ILO ACTRAV sent a special message and appreciated the struggle of the working class for social justice and Decent Work in the country."
