Asia Pacific Energy Unions catch up with CUPE and "Right to Energy Group" and Links to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ' Goal 7"

Representatives of the PSI Asia Pacific Energy Unions , meet with the Canadian Electricity Industry Union CUPE as well as activists and representatives of the Global Organisation 'Right to Energy' for all.

The meeting was one of many side meetings organised and held by PSI affiliates at the recent PSI Congress 

PSI Affiliates in attendance at the meeting included  - PLN and SPLN and PJB Indonesia, Tenaga Malaysia, Thailand, ASU Australia , India, and others as well as PSI sub Regional Secretaries for , Sub-Regional Secretary for South East Asia Ian Mariano, Sub-Regional Secretary for South Asia Kannan Raman and Asia Pacific - Utilities and Local Government Network Coordinator Greg Mclean. PSI Deputy General Secretary David Boys is a voice for PSI Affiliates on the Board of the " Right to Energy" 

The main purpose of the meeting was to look at opportunities for PSI AP Affiliates to work with the " Right to Energy Group " , to assist and ensure adequate and affordable electricity availability in the AP Region . The meeting agreed to look at ongoing discussion and opportunities to work with " Right to Energy " , as many if not all of the issues have an impact on unions and citizens in the AP Region 

Issues under discussion from affiliates included, clear updates on the current position and changes taking place across the Asia Pacific (AP) Region , from Occupational Health and Safety to privatisation, shortages in energy availability. Along with how the ' Right to Energy Group ' can assist and add to PSI Affiliates actions and endeavors in the AP Region .
The issue of the Right to Energy, is also an issue Union Pension/Superannuation Fund Directors need to keep in mind as they acknowledge the importance of the energy (electricity) access for all within the "United Nations Sustainable Development Goals"  

" The United Nations adopted a stand-alone goal on energy – Goal 7 – that aims at ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 " Announced by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon announced in 2015
