While
there are hundreds of thousands of migrant domestic workers in Hong
Kong, their working conditions remain very hard. Recent cases have not
only highlighted the physical and sexual abuse that many workers endure,
but the substandard conditions
that they work and live in. This situation is made worse by government
legislation that forces workers to live with their employers. Organising in trade unions is the only way to improve migrant domestic workers’ conditions.
