Recently I meet with representative of the Chinese Chongqing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions when they visited Sydney. the main purpose of the visit was to learn of the operations of the Australia Industrial relations system, union structures, history and the role unions have played over the last 130 years in Australia and the role of industry based Unions - brief meetings such as this are important , to build relations and help with understanding what Australian union undertake for members - with the increasing trade between Australia , China and others - cross union discussions and the role of organisations like the ILO are critical for the future of Unions and Union Members across many countries.
