Pakistan Electricity Union - WAPDA


The Workers & Engineers of Electricity Distribution Companies pledged to continue to improve the standard of provision of BETTER SERVICES to the Electricity Consumers. They demanded to the Government to raise cheap Generation in the Public Sector and Develop Transmission of Electricity System on War Footing basis and provide Safety to the field staff against the accused causing theft of Electricity and committing violence against the staff during the performance of their duties. Mr. Asad Lilian Khan, Chief Engineer, PESCO was made victim of terrorism by the accused of theft of Electricity during the performance of his duties earlier and remained under treatment for six months and two members of Electricity Staff were brutally killed in Islamabad Capital of City while detecting theft of Electricity by the accused. It speaks itself the agony and unsafe working condition of Electricity Field Official. No nation could make progress in the Industrial & Agriculture and Commerce in the Global Village without provision of Electricity cheaper rate and without load shedding . Electricity Workers perform their duties by sacrificing their live almost 200 Nos. and far more becoming permanently disabled every year due to serious shortage of staff and unsafe working condition which needs to be redressed.

These views had been expressed by Veteran Trade Union Leader Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary of the Union in a large meeting held to-day 24 August, 2015 in Bukhtiar Labour Hall, Lahore under the aegis of ALL PAKISTAN WAPDA HYDRO ELECTRIC WORKERS UNION C.B.A. At this occasion Assadullah Khan Chief Engineer Electricity was applauded for its heroic efforts to get prevented pilferage of Electricity in Central Circle, LESCO. Lahore and was made victim of brutally and escaped after serious firing and injuries.

At this occasion, Mujahid Islam Billa, Chief Engineer, LESCO also spoke and paid tributes to his service. The house in a resolution commended the sacrifice of martyr Electricity workers due to fatal accident on duty and armed forces & Police fighting against the Terrorism and urged to the Government to take measures on War Footing basis to raise generation of cheaper Elecy. and overcoming load shedding and replenishment of the serious shortage of the staff due to ban on recruitment.
