Update on Trans-Pacific Partnership

The chief negotiators from the 11 remaining Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) nations met in Hakone, Japan on 12-13 July to debated options for advancing the mega FTA without the US participation. ​ ​ 
On 14 July, an international symposium on mega-FTAs was held in Tokyo. ​ ​ The main speaker was Dr. Jomo Kwame Sundram, who is a well-know economist from Malaysia, and held various positions, including the Assistant Secretary General for Economic Development in the United Nations’ Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and a member of the Commission of Experts of the President of the United Nations General Assembly on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System.
